The Wolf, the Pixie, and Two Princesses

Post by Cedahlia on Fri Apr 14, 2017 1:57 pm

It was movie night in the house, the one night a week that was mandatory that they spent it all together. No exceptions, not even death. Apparently.

The only one allowed to get away with it, was Bryna's mother as she was still healing. "Ew no!" Nel said suddenly and snatched the dvd from Wolf. "No Disney romances. What's wrong with you??"

"I thought you and Bryna would like it." Wolf lied, just that easily too.

"liar! You are being sappy because of Alex!" Nel accused, though Alex was sat right there. She didn't care. At all. "Playing some fairy tale heterosexual human relationship on the TV isn't going to make him suddenly into you."

"I know! But it doesn't hurt to try." Wolf said.

"I'm putting The Nightmare Before Christmas on. No arguments. You cannot be trusted right now." Nel said and shooed Wolf back to the sofa.

He went and sat between Bryna and Alex. He crossed his arms across his chest and huffed.

Bryna sat there, quite comfortable in her punked out clothes with a bad ass shirt and mini jacket, shorts and leggings with spiky boots. "Really?" she asked, one perfectly arched eyebrow raised at Wolf as he sat down next to her. "You are not passing off your cutesy romance movies on us."

Alex said nothing, just as he usually didn't when they got on this topic. Wolf had been pursuing him for a while and he'd been consistently turning him down, just like he always would. He knew it was just easier on everyone if he ignored it. Or it was easier on him. The girls loved to tease Wolf.

Loved it.

"This movie is a horror movie?" he asked instead.

"Ish," Bryna answered. Then again, it did have a love element in it. "You're so mean," she said to Nel with a hint of approval. Unrequited loved that ended up being requited in the end was part of the movie's plot. It was going to hit Wolf so hard in the face.

"No my sense of humour is just... Dark," Nel said and tried to not laugh at herself. She hit play and joined them next to Bryna. Sometimes her kitty joined them, but he wasn't today.

"What are we missing?" Wolf asked then, for him and Alex.

"Oh, you know. This story has a love element to it. I figured I'd give you your romance." Nel grinned.

"I don't trust you. Do you trust her Alex?" Wolf asked then.

"I trust her to mess with you for her own amusement," Alex answered. "Which means you're not going to like this movie very much." But he went very quiet because while he had seen a lot of movies with them, he hadn't seen one that had been made in this particular style.

The opening number was about Halloween and monsters. He frowned. "I thought this was a Christmas movie?"

"It's both," Bryna said with a laugh. She totally approved of how Nel thought. She wasn't even sort of sorry. Wolf could handle the teasing.

"It's weird." Wolf said, in a way that meant he loved it. Darkness and it was dark. Yesss.

"I knew you'd like it. "Nel said, she pulled the popcorn into her lap and then another into Wolf's. "Share with Alex. Okay, dad?"

"Uh huh." Wolf said and plopped some into his mouth without looking away from the screen.

Bryna quietly hummed along with the songs. She knew them all by heart. No self respecting dark girl wouldn't love this movie. She loved the art style, the whole plot, and just all of it. Even the music, which was dark and fun at the same time. She shared the popcorn with Nel, letting the guys have their own.

But Alex was too enthralled in the movie to really pay them attention. He loved to study human culture. It was one of his favorite things, to see what his creations had created. And this was so different and out there. But the pixie wasn't much of a fan of dark things, like most pixies weren't, and he had this odd expression on his face of being interested and being slightly horrified at the same time.

Nel noticed Alex's expression and nudged Bryna to see it too. She was so amused. She giggled quietly.

Wolf too was fully into the movie. He was rooting for Sally. He liked her. Poor thing. Not being noticed. He didn't click on though, not at first.

And likely not until the end. But, shockingly....

When the end happened and Sally got with Jack, he cried. "Oh my god!" Nel squeaked at the sight of his tears. "You're crying!"

"I'm just... There's popcorn kernel in my eye. Shut up." Wolf said, wiping his eye like something had gotten in there.

"Oh. My. Gods!" Bryna exclaimed as she looked at Wolf. She'd thought that Alex's expression through the movie had been the best thing ever. But this was even better! "You're such a terrible liar! You're totally crying! You were rooting her on the whole time, weren't you?"

Alex just sat there and looked a little uncertain of how he felt about that movie. "That was...odd."

"Aww, you didn't like it, little pixie?" Bryna teased.

"I didn't know that Santa could be made to seem scary...." Alex did not seem to approve of the movie as much as the girls. At all. And he'd been horrified when Sally had thrown herself from the tower and sewn herself back up together.

"Because there's nothing creepy about a jolly fat man breaking into your house and emptying his sack by your Christmas tree??" Nel cracked up, oh bless Alex. He was so adorably innocent.

Then she turned to Wolf. "Aww, you're relating to Sally aren't you?!" she had so known he would.

"No! Maybe!" Wolf said and stood up. "Look, I've fallen for Alex and he's denying me at every possible turn and I'm not giving up. But you guys picking on me for it isn't helping. It's not making him cave."

Nel blinked then, because she hadn't meant to upset him seriously. "Alex, can I ask you something?" She said then.

Alex looked away from the TV to Nel then. "You can ask. But that doesn't mean I'll answer." He was like that. He tried to help anyone with his vast and expansive knowledge but sometimes he just wouldn't answer at all.

Bryna hushed right up. Wolf had actually gotten upset. What was Nel going to ask? She didn't think she'd bluntly ask Alex to spill his feels. It wouldn't work on the pixie. He'd just walk off or something. Give her the stare. Something.

"Am I one of the reasons you don't want to be with Wolf? Do you not want to be one of my dad's?" Nel asked then, because it had crossed her mind. "I mean, you don't have to be my dad if you don't want too. But I'd like it."

Wolf shut up as well. He hadn't expected that, or thought that she'd go there. He wanted to know what Alex would say. It wasn't one of those questions he could just walk away from either.

Alex's expression didn't change at all with that question. He seemed to be very carefully thinking about something, as if he knew the answer but wasn't sure he wanted to actually say it. "No, that is not part of it. I already am one of your fathers," he said finally. He didn't give up more information but he might with questions.

Bryna hadn't expected Nel to go there. She stayed hush hush. This was important for the two of them.

"How?" Nel asked, she didn't know that Uxie and the others made the princesses. However, that wasn't quite what she meant either.

Wolf also stayed quiet. Interesting conversations were interesting.

"My brothers and I created humanity. In a very general way, we are fathers to all human kind. But more directly than that, with you, we also personally created all the Masters and all the Princesses. You were hand designed and hand created by us. Your parents had actually nothing to do with your birth, other than the physical act of bringing you into the world. So I couldn't be more your father, really," Alex said. "From a certain point of view."

"Wow." Nel said then, her eyebrows going up. "You mean creator. Not father. Sorry. No. Anyone can apparently make a child, but it takes a lot more than that to be a father. If that's one of the reasons you aren't inclined to give in to him, you should cut that shit out. You have all this knowledge, but you can't understand that you're not my dad. Yet. You're not Bryna's dad. You're not Mireya and Mandisa's dad. You created us, nothing more. Nothing less."

Wolf very quickly wanted to leave. But it was like watching a train crash, you couldn't look away though you knew you should.

Alex just tilted his head to the side. He didn't care that she was sassy. He expected that of her. "You want me to give in and love him as he wants me to just so that you can call me father?" he asked. "Because that hardly seems fair. I can be your father and not his lover at the same time." Alex did not like being pushed like this. It was hard enough to tell Wolf no. For her to make this matter of their hearts about her too just complicated things more and made him even unhappier. The sadness in his large eyes just seemed to increase then.

Bryna stopped watching Alex and Nel. She was looking at Wolf. This really couldn't be easy for him. She didn't know what it felt like, to fall in love with someone that consistently refused their feelings. She didn't even know why Alex did since it was clear he was found of them, in his own odd way.

"No I asked if I was a reason stopping you, now that I know I'm not, that is fine. I'm not gonna call you dad until you earn it like he did it. I don't care if that's you and him together, or by being here for me and acting like it. You don't get to call yourself my dad because you created me, is what I'm saying. I'd like you to get together, but that's about you guys and how you feel. Tell me you don't like him and I'll never mention it again. I'll even apologise for bringing it up." Nel said, because she wasn't trying to upset him. She was just being honest.

Wolf froze. It was hard on him. Worse now that Nel had asked Alex straight up if he had any feelings for him.

Alex didn't lie though. He didn't always say things in a straightforward manner but he certainly didn't lie. His eyes just got even sadder. "I don't want to talk anymore," he said. He got up and left.

Bryna just stared after him. "He didn't answer. That means he does have feelings." She knew it. She could just tell. But it didn't explain why he kept saying no.

"Oh my God he so does!" Nel squealed, happily too. Though she looked at Wolf. "Are you mad?"

"No, but...I... Um. Gotta go. Bye." Wolf said and pat them on the head before bailing right after Alex. "Wait." He said and caught him by the arm.

"Aww, he's gonna chase him. Can be shadow watch them and see what happens?!" Nel asked quietly, but excitedly.

Alex did not pause. He kept walking until he was in the kitchen. Then he stopped. He looked at Wolf. But then he went to the fridge and pulled out a water flavored with cucumbers and melon.

"You know that's happening. We can't not spy. We're invested," Bryna said with no shame or guilt.

"Are you mad at me?" Wolf asked then, because Alex was just being weird. He followed anyway. "you can't do that. You can't basically admit to have feelings and then just ignore me."

Nel dragged Bryna into the shadows and followed. They didn't miss any of what Wolf had said either. "I hope they don't fall out," she said.

"No, I am not mad at you," Alex said. "I just do not have the words you wish to hear. And I am sorry for that."

"Can't you just tell me why?" Wolf asked, if they had feelings for each other, why protest so much?

"Yeah, but kids in school are immature. They're adults. They adult about stuff." Nel pointed out, because well... She hoped the adults would adult. If not they were screwed. "It's so tragic."

Re: The Wolf, the Pixie, and Two Princesses

"There are no fairies stories where a mortal and a fiend end up happily together," Bryna told Nel. "As sweet as it would be for them to find a way and worn it out, that doesn't seem to be common. I'm sure someone has managed it somewhere but it wasn't a big enough deal to make known."

"Because there is no way that this could ever work between us," Alex said. "And if anyone would know, it would be me. There just isn't a way, Wolf. What would you have me do? I may be human, mortal now, but I cannot remain so. My death would lead to the end of this world. I cannot be so selfish as to give up my mortality and position for you.

And once I am free, as I will be at some point, I cannot be with you then either. Not physically as you would like. Nor do do I permanently live on this plane. Even if were to choose to remain here by your side and take human form, you will eventually pass on. And while I can remake you anew and hope your feelings remain when you mature, I have no desire for such a tragic cycle.

Or would you give up your mortality and your destined role as a Master to join me in the other plane beyond this world? You can't. Not only can you not shirk such a duty but you can't abandon the girls, the family you've made.

So I'm sorry. But I have no words of comfort you," Alex finished. "We cannot be."

"Aw, that's horseshit!" Nel hissed. To both Alex and to Bryna. "If you care enough, then it can work. You find away."

"Love isn't about it being one way or the other. It's about compromising to suit both parties." Wolf argued, much like Nel had. "I will ask someone to bless me and make me a fiend. I won't give up being a master. But you'll never lose me to death. I'll still do my work here when you do yours there. We could make it work. If you had any inclination to try. We could."
