Gunnar Interview

The set up for the interview of Gunnar was also two chairs in front of the fireplace in the library. "Hello, Gunnar," Kayh greeted as she joined him. Nel had been surprisingly easy to get information out of despite being quiet. Hopefully Gunnar would be just as easy. "Shall we start with how you became a hunter?"

"You just gonna jump right in there with that, baby cakes?" Gun laughed and shook his head. "Same way everyone else does. The life chooses you. My sister was stolen by some blood sucking fiends. They used her to hunt for them, if it was a slow night, they fed off her. No one believed me, they all thought she'd run away with a boy. But I found them. It was too late though. But once your eyes are open to the things under your bed, hiding in the shadows, your closest, you can't close them again and you see 'em everywhere."

"Baby cakes," Kayh repeated and made a face. She'd never had someone call her that before. She didn't know how she felt about it. "How did you meet Drake and Hikari? Do you work with them often or is it a long distance friendship?"

"I don't mean any disrespect, Lady. I just call everyone pet names." Gun shrugged, but some people were naturally offended. He didn't mean to do that. "They saved my ass on a mission way back when and we've sort of stuck together since. Not constantly mind you, we'd just end up on the same job and put our minds together on it. I think all of three times they've called me up. They're very private people they are."

"You say that like you're not a private person," Kayh commented. "Hunters seem to be private people by necessity but maybe not you?"

"No, I am a little social butterfly. Generally stick to my own people though, if you know what I mean. Most people think you're crazy or looking to hurt folks if they know your job so being around others who understand is the easiest way to get around it."

"So you'll have the most personal relationships of the lot, I'd bet," Kayh said. "Any close friends other than Drake and Hikari? And a girlfriend? Or a boyfriend if that's what you're into."

"I haven't been that close to anyone in a long, long time. Though, girlfriend would have been correct. It'd take a special kind of man to convince me to go that way. Not that I think there's anything wrong with it, mind you. I just don't feel naturally as inclined. I've been attracted before, even had a few moments here or there." Gunnar said, he was just fussy in general. Not just with people. "I have many acquaintances, not so many I'd go so far as to say are friends. Except Drake, Hikari, Nel and Bobby. Morgan is an all right guy if you catch him on the right day, if you know what I'm sayin."

"I do," Kayh said. Morgan didn't appear to be anyone's favorite and from the sounds of it, he had brought that on himself. "So what do you think of the people living in the Manor then? Any you see yourself being friends with or not getting along with at all?"

"Now I'm real friendly and such so I don't think that I'll disagree with anyone, but I'll get along with most too. Mireya seems so sweet and her sister is a cool kind of creepy like Nel. I think that her attitude will get to be a bit much at times, but I'll take it on the chin real polite like. I think that I need to take on a brotherly role with Nel, so if anyone messes with her then I'll fall out with them. Krei is a bit weird, I don't dislike him but I don't like him either because I can't quite figure him out and that bothers me. It tells my gut no. Cam seems interesting and nice enough, we have some common interests. More so than others so I reckon we will get on just fine." Gun grinned happily.

"You're living in a house filled with not just hunters but gods and the children of gods," Kayh said. "What's that like for you?"

"Odd, honestly. Though I'm not like some hunters, I know that there's good, bad and somewhere in between. So long as they're not hurting no one for no good reason, I'm down to get to know them." Gun said because he was an easy going person very relaxed.

"You seem like an honestly good person and yet your elemental connection is poison," Kayh said. "There's not many people that can say they're connected to such a toxic element and yet are still able to remain good. What's your story there?"

"I don't really know," Gunnar laughed, he realised it was odd. "I guess I'm a poison on the world, I just like to hide it by doing good things."

"You have a few rival elements in the house, psychic and fairy," Kayh pointed out. Psychic being strong against poison and fairy being weak. "How do you think you'll get along with those connected to your rival elements?"

"I mean, so long as they don't start anything we won't have an issue. I can't see Eden being that way, he seems polite enough. I'm not sure about Krei but I'd like to think if Hikari dated him for a short period of time he's at least smart and isn't going to do anything stupid," Gunnar shrugged, "I don't put much stock into the rival elements thing. People aren't defined by their gifts."

"Elemental connections have an impact on people's personalities," Kayh said. "But going back to you, you're a berserker. When did you first experience that part of yourself? Is it something you have a good grasp of or is that part of you a little unpredictable?"

"It's terribly unpredictable. I think pent up rate I refuse to let out because I'm too damn nice. Anger at how the world is, how everyone is treated. Fiend and human alike, anger at my sister being taken. All that stuff. Sometimes, it's the smallest thing that rubs me the wrong way and I snap, in those moments I barely remember what happened. When it's a gradual thing I have better control and memory of it." Gunnar explained.

"Is this something that happens often? Do your friends know about it and do they have a plan for if it does happen when they are around?" Kayh asked. "Or is that why don't form especially close relationships like having a girlfriend?"

"It's definitely part of it. Until I can get a better handle on it, I don't want to have that on their mind. I do regular meditation and other exercises. It hasn't happened in a sudden way for six months. But that doesn't mean it won't." Gunnar said and he was awful careful about it. For obvious reasons.

"I'm sure with training you'll be able to get a better grasp on it," Kayh said. "Psychics have to have a certain clarity of mind and focus to be able to do what they do. Perhaps consulting with one and having them train you in mental exercises will help your control," she suggested. "On to something a little nicer, what do you want out of your life, Gun? What are your dreams?"

"Oh I don't have those." Gunnar said dismissively, "I've watched people like me have dreams and wants. But it doesn't ever happen the way the want. You know? I live everyday like it's my last and I enjoy every second without regrets."

"So you don't have an goals? Anything that motivates you and keeps you going?" Kayh asked. "There must be something that you want for yourself. It doesn't have to be something big. Maybe just visiting a certain landmark or getting front row seats to your favorite band's concert."

"I want to stay alive and I don't want to kill my friends. That's about it." Gun said, he knew it was weird. But he didn't do that stuff for reasons he'd already stated.

"Those are fair goals," Kayh said. "A little unusual but so are you. What are the things that you like the most in life? Any favorites? And other than terrible fiends, what don't you like?"
