Poe Interview Empty Poe Interview

Post by Cedahlia Fri Nov 18, 2016 4:49 pm

The interviews of the past had taken place in comfortable armchairs in front of roaring fires. But that wasn't the sort of place that Poe could be find. He was incredibly difficult to track down. The only consistent place he could ever be found were in graveyards.

Poe sat quite comfortably on top of a tombstone. It was so old that the words had been worn away by time and the elements. In one hand he held a little black book and in the other hand a rose with petals as black as the clothes he wore. He was writing in the book using the stem of the rose but no words were visible on the page. He looked up with his one visible eye when approached.

"Hello, Poe." Nicki said as she slipped onto a gravestone beside him and smiled. She was perfectly happy in these types of places. She'd spent many of her teen years lurking like a creeper. "Are we going to play nice today, cutie?"

"I'm feeling cooperative today," Poe said. He had a voice like velvet. It was hypnotic to listen to. "Of course, you'll have to ask the right questions to get the answers you seek."

"Hm, if I wasn't asking the right questions then what would be the point?" Nicki laughed, such a cliché thing to say but it amused her that he had anyway. "Tell me of how you ended up with a patch? Is it it just for show?"

"Oh no, it's quite necessary," Poe said with a hint of a smirk. "It hides no disfiguration. My eye is quite whole underneath it. But were you to look into my eye you would not see your reflection. Oh no. You'd see your own death, played out in all its grisly detail. Most living creatures, having a healthy aversion to death, do not handle such knowledge very well. It tends to drive them quite mad. So I wear the patch. For your safety."

"That's so fucking awesome," Nicki said excitedly. She knew she wasn't going to likely die in any such fashion. Hit by a bus or in her bed likely. She was fine with that. "Have you always had that? Since birth?"

"I have," Poe answered. "If it was something that I was born with or if it was gifted to me at the time of my birth, I do not know, but it has been with me since I was a very small kit."

"That's very awesome. What do you think of giratina?" Nicki asked as it was his goddess. She wondered if he was blindly following or not.

"Not much," Poe admitted. "What she did to get herself banished was incredibly unwise. She really should have known better than to mess with her Master's beloved. I have no sympathy for her. And I quite enjoy being somewhat master-less. It gives me the freedom to do as I wish."

"So you don't favour her then?" Nicki asked tilting her head to the side. Though she could believe he wasn't a fan of having an authority figure. Being able to be his own boss was much better.

"I do not," Poe said. "I find the arrogance of most gods to be terribly unattractive. They forget that there are those capable of shattering their auras and leaving them vulnerable to death. While rare, those kind do exist, and yet still gods like Giratina do as they wish, thinking there will be no one to hold them accountable for their deeds."

"Very true." Nicki agreed. That was a good bonus point for him. "I'm going to assume you like a lot of dark things? Ghosts, graveyards, vampire books?" She added the last one as a joke.

Poe Interview Empty Re: Poe Interview

Poe chuckled. "I do," he said. "But I also enjoy people watching. I find humans to be fascinating creatures. They can be so incredibly dull and predictable but in the right situations they'll still completely surprise you. I especially like to observe people when their true selves are exposed. I find that to be very beautiful although it's often quite terrible. A person's true self can be hidden from them for all of their lives. But for some it becomes clear when they are left in a raw state, when their worlds fall apart and you get to see who they really are and how they handle that. But you've seen it yourself. In Morgan. Cameron. Two people with the potential to have completely ordinary lives that appear to be good and yet when you expose their true selves you see the darkness that was inside of them was so much stronger than you'd ever assume."

"But, in your opinion does that make them good or bad people in the end?" Nicki asked, curious about his opinion in it. They were quite obviously full of darkness that overwhelmed them.

Poe Interview Empty Re: Poe Interview

Post by Cedahlia Fri Nov 18, 2016 4:53 pm

"I am not so bothered about good or bad. Both things serve an equally important purpose in maintaining the balance of the world. What interests me is how they handle their darkness. Their strength of characters is more important than their morals. Morals can change but character is who you are. Cameron, for example, used his darkness as a weapon. He remained truly noble, using it to destroy the twisted souls of the world and save lives. But he never conquered his darkness and so his nightmares persist. Morgan's darkness became not a strength but an obsession that weakened his family's bonds rather than strengthen them. He did not conquer it either."

"Such a kitty thing to be upset over." Nicki laughed, but then wiggled, her butt going a little numb on the gravestone. "Do you have a family? A husband or wife that will get pissy if I flash you a flirtatious grin?" She grinned.

"No family," Poe answered. "Have you heard that a black cat crossing your path is a sign of bad luck? That comes from me. People that come across me, they tend to have bad things happen to them after. I am a creature people fear and avoid, not love."

"I grew up in a very wiccan family, they always said the opposite that it was in fact very lucky if a black cat would be so kind as to cross your path." Nicki shrugged, "some curses, the superstitious kind? They only have power if you believe in them. And I don't."

"Do you have a favourite of the guardians?" Nicki asked, she wanted to know him better as well. Knowing the kind of people he liked went toward that.

"Hm," Poe said and thought on that. "Ermes is very classy an intelligent. Devoted and loyal which are all good qualities in a guardian," he said. "While Sirena is pure and innocent. A little naive and still learning about the world on land. I find Sirena's purity to be a little too much at times. There is only so much of it that I can handle. I suppose that makes Ermes my favorite. She is easier to have an intelligent discussion with."

"Neither of them have very much to do with me personally," Poe answered. "But I am a little curious to see how their story plays out this time as opposed to last time. I would not be disinterested to work with them but I will not be a blind follower of their either. They have plenty of those already, I feel."
