A Boy and his Dragon Empty A Boy and his Dragon

Post by Cedahlia Thu Sep 24, 2015 3:52 pm

It was the first day that Jiro was spending with his new family in his new home. But while the morning had started out with everyone having a quiet but nice breakfast together, people have lives. They had their routines and Jiro, not currently in school and not sure where he fit into his new family, had moved to the background to watch rather than to interact.

After lunch he went outside into the backyard to see what was there. He liked to draw surrounded by nature. His sketchbook was under his arm, his case of pencils, markers, and the like were in his hand as he walked about and looked around. It was so quiet even though they were surrounded by green nature. Such a change from the busy life in the city he'd lived before, he felt completely lost. He took a breath. It had only been a few days since he'd lost his family. Not even a week. He was struggling with it badly even though his new family, people familiar to him, were nice.

He found the pond. The rock pathways across it and to the middle with the cover above looked perfect for relaxing and sketching. He crossed to the little shelter and sat down, moving his sketchpad and box to his lap. He just stared forward. "So this is home," he told himself. He looked back at the house. He could see them moving around, shadows behind curtains. Not the shadows he was used to. He put his face in his hands and tried not to cry.

A Boy and his Dragon Empty Re: A Boy and his Dragon

A not quite fully matured dratini was hiding in that pond. It wasn't being a stalker or anything, but he had been sent for a purpose. He looked at the warped image of the boy by the pond and tilted his head under the water. Hm. His memory was hazy of the man that his mother and father had called Jiro. It had been too long so he could hardly remember anything, except that he cared about him a lot at the time.

The situation had been explained to him, he was told he wasn't allowed to tell. So he wouldn't. He would be good and make sure that Jiro wasn't lonely and he would try to cheer him up. With that thought, he popped his head out of the water and shot a stream of water from his mouth all over Jiro's face. "Why so sad?"

Jiro's head jerked back at the sudden splash of water. "W-what?" He asked as water dripped onto his face from his now soaked hair in the front. He looked around but he didn't see any people. Finally he looked down at the pond. At first he thought it was a snake but it turned out to be a dragon. "Oh. Hi," he said. He did better with animals than people. He'd never seen a dragon before though. He scooted closed ton look at it.

"Hello," Tan said, he lifted his head up to nudge Jiro on the nose softly. "Don't be sad." He requested, his tail decided it was a good moment to swish in the water and he soaked the boy peering over the edge and he laughed. He couldn't help it. "Sorry. I can't seem to control that thing."

Jiro blinked. But then he smiled a little bit. "It's okay," he said and wiped the water off his face. He wasn't a big fan of water. He didn't know why. It wasn't like he was scared of it. He just didn't like it. "Are you a baby dragon?" he asked curiously. "I've never met a dragon before. Do you belong to the family in there?" he asked, gesturing to the house behind them.

"Teenage dragon and no. I belong to you." Tan said and floated out of the water so he could wrap himself around Jiro's arm. "I'm your dragon now. It's a thing, you can't escape it. Even if you don't like water." He said and nudged his snout against the boys face again.

"You're my dragon?" Jiro asked. He didn't know how that worked. Could a dragon just decide to be his? He supposed as they were dragons they could do whatever they wanted. He sat back down properly and lifted his arm up to look at the dragon. "Do you have a name?"

"My name is Tan," The dragon said with a squeak. An adorable squeak as he continued to give Jiro all the affection. All of it. "And yes, your dragon. I have claimed you, now we belong to each other. You'll never be alone."

"Never?" Jiro asked. "I like that." He scooted back with the dragon until they were under the covered shelter again. "My name is Jiro," he said. He thought that Tan was an odd name for a blue dragon. But that was okay. "Can I paint you?"

"Never," Tan affirmed and rubbed his head under Jiro's chin. "You can if you want." He said, he wouldn't mind it, but convincing him to sit still was a completely different question.

Jiro was used to just painting whatever though. He'd done a lot of his ice dino, Uma. He got out his things and started to paint a quick sketch of the tiny dragon. He could spend a whole afternoon outside painting. But that wouldn't do. People would notice him missing.

And they did.

His new sisters, twins even if they were polar opposites, came out to find him. Mireya carried a plate of food while Mandisa had a can of juice in her hands.

"Hi, Jiro," Mireya said cheerfully once she'd spotted him in the middle of the pond. "Lunch is going to be a little late-"

"Because she broke the kitchen again," Mandisa interrupted.

"So we brought you a snack and some juice," Mireya finished.

Jiro looked at the plate of food. Apple slices and cheese. Healthy food. But he loved, loved apples. "Apples..." he said.

"Ask her how she broke the kitchen." Tan asked, but to the girls he would sound like he was making the adorable dratini sounds. He was super curious. He thought he knew of this girl, from stories his parents had told. But he wasn't massively interested, except that she'd murdered the kitchen.

Jiro looked at the little dragon and then back up at the girls. "Why is the kitchen dead?" he asked.

"Oh um, well you see..." Mireya tried to find a way to explain what she'd done.

"She tripped on the cord for the toaster," Mandisa said. "It exploded."

Jiro blinked.

Mireya blushed.

"She has some terrible luck, that one." Tan said and giggled into Jiro's neck. He couldn't help it. That was too funny. "How is she going to survive for longer than five minutes if she blows everything up? Silly girl."

Jiro nodded at the dragon. He didn't get it either. They didn't look like they'd been in an explosion though. Didn't smell like it either. "You're clean."

"What?" Mireya asked. She didn't understand where Jiro thoughts were coming from most of the time when he chose to speak to them.

"He means we're not covered in soot and debris from the explosion," Mandisa said.

"Oh! Well I can make force fields. So I was able to protect us from it," Mireya said proudly.

"Now we just need something to protect us from you," Mandisa said.

Mireya looked embarrassed. "Um...so we're just going to get some food from the cafe. What do you like to eat?"

"Apples."

"You need a proper lunch. Ask for two bacon lettuce and tomato sandwiches, with mayo and two soda's plus chips for us to share." Tan said, he wasn't going to let Jiro get away with only eating apples, that was just ridiculous. No. He would have to take care of him.

"You can't just eat apples," Mandisa said with a frown. Yes, he did seem to like them but that wasn't proper food. Apples qualified as a snack. Not a meal. This kid, really.

"What about your dragon?" Mireya asked, thinking that maybe they could get proper food for Jiro if they used the dragon. "I'm sure he'd like more to eat than just apples."

Jiro looked at the dragon. "Tan wants two bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches with mayo, two sodas, and chips to share."

The girls blinked. "Oh. The dragon is a hungry baby, huh?" Mireya asked with a giggle.

Tan snorted his agreement, he was hungry. But one of the sandwiches was for Jiro. "It's all to share. But I might want pickles. Can I have pickles?"

Jiro nodded. "We want pickles too." Because he liked those as well. He didn't like to eat them. He liked to duck on them. They were so sour.

"The dragon is pretty demanding, huh?" Mandela asked. She didn't believe that he could understand the dragon. But maybe he could.

"Not demanding," Tan protested, he hissed in Mandisa's direction and just protectively wrapped himself around Jiro's neck. "Just hungry. It was a long way to fly from Kalos."

Mandisa couldn't understand the dragon. She blinked when it hissed at her like that. "Awww it's feisty for being so little." She totally approved of that. "Okay. Because it's got some spunk we'll bring back dessert too."

Jiro didn't say anything. He wondered how the dragon had flown. Maybe it didn't need wings.

Tanjiro just looked smug as he settled on Jiro. "You'll eat all the things and you'll grow up to be as strong and healthy as me. My dad says boys eat more to give them muscles and strength."

"My dad used to say that too," Jiro said. "But I don't like most foods." He was a very picky eater. He couldn't help it. He just wasn't all that interested in food. Especially now with as sad as he was.

The girls watched him talk to the dragon. Maybe it helped him cope with the loss. Their animals had helped them when their parents died. "Okay then. We'll be back in oh...an hour. Eat your snacks but don't fill up," Mandisa directed and marched off with Mireya behind her.

"I do like fish," Jiro said. "How did you know?" He didn't think it was obvious. He didn't smell like fish. There were some fish in this area, he supposed, that he'd be able to get for food since the forest had lots of ponds and small rivers. But it would be more rustic fare out here since it wasn't a big city by any means. It was part of the forest so everything was so natural and fresh. Very different from the city.
